This is a temporary position at Nanaimo’s Overdose Prevention Site. Relevant experience working with people who use illicit substances and other stigmatized populations using a harm reduction approach is preferred.
The purpose of the overdose prevention site is to improve health outcomes for people who inject drugs. Working at the fixed-site location, the Paramedic will provide first response to any medical crisis (OD or otherwise) as required at the site. Provide leadership and support to the OPS staff, including Harm Reduction Workers, Peer Support and Resident Building Attendants and provide education, Naloxone training and observation of at risk clients.
